Remedial Massage

Remedial massage treatments may address a variety of conditions ranging from repetitive strain to neck, shoulder and back pain. The techniques applied may include trigger point therapy, deep tissue, myofascial and soft tissue release, lymphatic drainage, cupping and stretching.

Health rebates may apply from registered Therapists.

(Qualified Remedial Massage Therapists must be registered with your health fund and complying with their regulations for you to be able to seek a health rebate for your treatment. Please be aware registration of a Therapist may take up to 6 weeks, which some private funds may allow you to claim during this registration period and others may not. Myofascial Trigger Point Release Massage

Massage Therapists often seek to deactivate trigger points. Associated with muscular skeletal pain and often referred to as “knots,” trigger points are referred to as an area in the fascia surrounding skeletal muscle. Referred pain patterns have been mapped to trigger points.

Activation of trigger points may be caused by acute or chronic muscle overload, other trigger points, disease, stress, trauma and health issues.

Applied techniques to trigger points may elicit local tenderness, referred pain or a local twitch response.

Massage applies a variety of techniques to work on deactivating trigger points. Techniques may include applied pressure, stretching: including proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) and muscle energy techniques (MET).

Deep and persistence trigger points may be more effectively treated with the use of dry needling.

Deep Tissue Massage

Chronic muscle tension or injury may have painful bands of adhesions present. Deep tissue massage works on breaking down restrictions and scar tissue in the deeper myofascial of the muscle, tendons and ligament by applying slow strokes with deep finger pressure, compression and friction.

Deep tissue massage assists in eliminating toxins from the muscles, increasing range of movement and restoring length and flexibility to the fascia. The overall goal being, over time, to relive pain and restore normal muscle movement.
